Peru will host more than 15,000 visitors including politicians, officials, reporters and non-governmental organisations during next year's UN climate change negotiations or 'COP20', making it the largest event ever held in Peru.

Gabriel Quijandria, Peruvian Deputy Minister of Strategic Development of Natural Resources, said Tuesday that the 12-day conference will significantly increase the country's participation in international negotiations that aim at reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.
Peru's capital Lima is scheduled to host the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) twentieth session of the Conference of Parties (COP 20) from Dec 3-14, 2014.
"As a country, we are working on an agenda which will include topics such as the Amazon rainforests, mountain ecosystems, agriculture, glaciers and also ways to make economic development environmentally sustainable," Quijandria said.
The 2014 ministerial-level climate conference takes place one year before the deadline for a new, global deal on curbing global warming.
The 2013 COP is to be held in Warsaw, Poland from Nov 11-22.
