Tackling climate change isn't a problem that individual countries should try to address by themselves, a U.N. climate change official said in Thailand.

More than 2,000 representatives from 175 countries wrapped up a climate conference Friday in Bangkok. Christiana Figueres, the executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, said the international community was working through her agency to form coordinated environmental policies.
She said governments needed to work in conjunction with international bodies in order to act together on climate change.
"This is not an 'either/or' choice, it has to be a package," she said in a statement. "No country can hope to go it alone."
She said delegates at the climate conference moved in the right direction when discussing the future of the Kyoto Protocol on climate issues, which expires in 2012.
"Discussions in Bangkok under the Kyoto Protocol importantly shifted from a focus on what should happen with regard to the future of the protocol to how it will happen," she said.
