Africa is part of the 195 states that form the United Nations Framework convention on Climate change with the next meeting being expected to be held in Doha, Qatar in November this year. However, as preparation for the meeting is going on globally, African states are already feeling left out as civil society organizations cite instances that have left the continent no much better ever since the collective effort to fight climate change begun in 1992. They claim that developed states are treating the whole cause with selfish interests.

The African civil society Organization under the Pan African Climate justice Alliance claim that the rich countries propose goals that risk untold suffering in Africa, while offering insufficient emission reductions, and inadequate funding.
Africa has now come up with what they deem as fair demands which they are planning to table before the Doha , conference. They claim the outcomes to be agreed at the Doha climate negotiations must ensure that developed countries address their historical responsibilities and debts , incurred while their activities aimed at ammersing more wealth for their nations have plunged Africa into poverty.
In preparation for the promotion of these demands before the Doha conference, the African civil society organization plan to engage the developed countries in their own homes through demonstrations and peaceful marches to create awareness of of climate change, an aspect which the say is being hidden from the populace.
The fight against climate change which begun as one global voice seems to be losing focus with a blame game already starting to manifest itself. It is not clear however, if Africa which has less representatives in the convention will manage to make its voice heard effectively come November when the world will meet again to talk about climate change.
