To bolster its efforts to help the environment along with signalling the US President Donald Trump that global tech companies still care for climate, Apple has issued its second "green" bond valued at $1 billion.

Combined with Apple's $1.5 billion "green" bond issued last year to run 100 percent of its operations on renewable energy, the new offering would make Apple the single-largest US dollar-denominated issuer in the market, Fortune reported on Tuesday.

"Leadership from the business community is essential to address the threat of climate change and protect our shared planet," Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of environment, policy, and social initiatives and the former head of the EPA, said in a statement.

"We're proud to offer investors another opportunity to join us in this important work," she was quoted as saying.

The announcement comes after Trump announced the US will pull out of the Paris climate accord. The move was opposed by Apple then.

Apple, including Microsoft and Facebook, sent a letter to Trump opposing the Paris accord move by the US.

"We believe the United States can best exercise global leadership and advance US interests by remaining a full partner in this vital global effort," the group wrote.

Globally, the green bond market may exceed $200 billion this year, more than double the $93 billion in issued in 2016.
