Solar panels have been installed on the roofs of 44 multi-apartment buildings in Yerevan. This was announced on Monday at a working meeting in the capital's mayor's office.
The work was carried out within the framework of the EU for Yerevan: Solar Community grant program, which is being implemented under the auspices of the Pact of Mayors initiative. The program provides for the installation of panels in 100 residential buildings in the city. 54 buildings have already been selected, work has been carried out in 49 of them.
The cost of the project is 1 million 250 thousand euros (of which 250 thousand euros are financed by the mayor's office). The possibility of installing panels is not available in all buildings. In particular, multi-apartment buildings should be 9-14 storey, have a flat roof, and be located on the sunny side.
The program provides for energy savings in public places. This will allow residents to save up to 50% of energy.
360 Watt panels are produced in Armenia. With the help of the received energy, entrances, staircases in buildings will be illuminated. Electrical lines have already been laid and fixtures installed. They are equipped with new generation LED lamps with light, sound and motion sensors. This means that the light can turn on, reacting even to the voice of the incoming person. Solar energy will also be used for night lighting.
In addition, new features will allow residents to pay 50% of the total amount for elevator maintenance.
Note that the program is pilot, free for residents. After installation, the solar panels will become the property of the residents and will last 15-20 years.
