Climate Action's statement in response to COP26 being postponed to 2021.

As you are probably well aware, late on Wednesday evening, COP26 President, The Hon. Alok Sharma announced a joint UK and UN decision to postpone the UNFCCC's 26th Conference of Parties (COP26).

Given the current global health emergency, this might not come as a surprise to many.

First and foremost, our sympathies go to those who have already lost loved ones to COVID-19, and we extend our deepest thanks and to the amazing health service professionals and front-line workers who put their lives at risk on a daily basis.

Whilst COP26 has been postponed and environmental diplomacy seemingly put on hold, we cannot delay our commitments on climate action. We cannot postpone the climate emergency.

Now, more than ever, organisations must double down on climate and sustainability commitments. COVID-19 has given us a glimpse into a global economy decimated by crisis. If we do not address the global climate crisis now, the current levels of environmental and economic disruption will be a reality by 2050. We must use this crisis as a catalyst to re rewire the global system.

Although the COP26 postponement to 2021 is far from ideal for our planet, it will give us all more time to collaborate, build momentum and raise our ambition ahead of the UNFCCC's COP26.

Climate Action wish to engage with as many industries and organizations, governments and NGOs as we possibly can to help you utilise our trusted and engaged platform to maintain momentum towards COP26  and build pressure across stakeholder groups to make COP26 the pivot point it must be to enable a net-zero future.

We invite you to complete a short survey to help us understand how COVID-19 and the postponement of COP26 is impacting your organisations ability to take climate action in 2020. We would like to support and help you fulfil climate and sustainability commitments in order to have greater impact.   Please can you take 5 minutes to fill out a quick survey.

We look forward to collaborating with you and your organisation for greater climate and sustainability impact.
